The Chapel of Blackwood Manor is done in rich carved wood and elegant stained glass. As you look at the details, you realize that this is not a Christian chapel, but one that is dedicated to the Old Gods in their myriad aspects. There are statues of all sizes in wonderous materials, statues of Hecate, Isis, Cernunnos, Freyja, Osiris, Ganesha, Pan, Herne, Lugh, and many others.
Each small shrine is well cared for, with small bits of food or other offerings on it. Incense hangs in the air, giving the room a slight haze; fresh flowers are in abundance about the otherwise somber chamber.
You notice that in the back of the chapel are a number of doors.
This room of Blackwood Manor is dedicated to my religion, Wicca. I am an Eccelctic Witch (yes, I call myself "Witch" more often than I call myself "Wiccan") who is mostly self-taught. I have been on this Path since 1981, and dedicated myself in 1983, and have been in three Circles in all that time: Starwheel Coven of Dutchess and Orange Counties in New York, Castlebrook Coven in Riverview Florida, and MoonRaven Coven in Dutchess County New York.
The members of MoonRaven still get together for occasional magicks and at Samhain each year, though we are officially defunct.
Castlebrook Coven is still going strong, last I heard -- a good bunch of folks whom I learned a lot from. They were/are a teaching coven with learned elders and much patience.
Starwheel was formed by another woman and myself in 1987 because there were no other Covens that we knew of in our area. It was a short-lived coven because I moved to Florida a few months after it's formation. And if my covenmate is reading this, write to me! I have moved back to NY state and no one knows where you are! I miss you, my sister.
