This section of Blackwood Manor is a place for me, the lady of the manor, to entertain friends in a relaxed, congenial atmosphere. Traditionally, the lady's solar was for the women to gather and persue "the womanly arts" of sewing, spinning, embroidery and such things. It was called a "solar" because it generally got more sunlight than most of the other rooms in the castle, which was needed by the women for their fine needlework. In keeping with at least some tradition, I will use this area to share some knowledge and interest I have in crafting, which was, and to some extent still is, concidered primarily of interest to women.
